1. What is hot laminating steel sheet?

Hot laminating steel sheet is a thin, flat steel with a distinctive dark blue color and a rough surface. It is produced by heating steel billets at high temperatures (over 1000 degrees Celsius) and then laminating them to achieve thicknesses ranging from 3 to 100 mm.

2. Advantages of steel sheet:

  • Easy Maintenance: High durability and resistance to weather and environmental factors make hot rolled steel easy to maintain. It is extensively used in various sectors, including the automotive industry, roofing sheet manufacturing, mechanical processing, purlin rolling, and civil construction.
  • Ductile and Formable: Hot rolling alters the microstructure of the steel, enhancing its malleability and toughness. This quality allows it to be easily bent and shaped for specific applications.
  • Simple Repair: Hot rolled steel can be resized, reshaped, and re-welded when cracks occur under high temperatures and pressure.
  • High Load-Bearing Capacity: Hot rolled steel exhibits good load-bearing capacity, withstanding heavy loads while showing minimal warping and denting.
  • Low Maintenance: Its durability and resistance to weather and environmental conditions enable hot rolled steel to be used and stored outdoors, even in harsh climates, without the need for sealing.
  • Lower Cost: Hot rolled steel is less expensive than cold rolled steel due to its streamlined fabrication process at high temperatures eliminating the need for re-heating.

3. Disadvantages of steel sheet:

  • Aesthetic Concerns: The surface finish of hot rolled steel is uneven due to the rolling process, leading to a lack of an oil film. Oxidation from high temperatures can cause scaling on the surface.
  • Size and Shape Control: Cooling causes the steel to contract, resulting in internal stresses that make the steel plate non-uniform in size and shape, and prone to deformation. Tolerance differences can range from 2% to 5%.
  • Precision in hot laminating sheet: Incorrect hot rolling procedures can potentially damage the billet.

4. Standards of hot laminating steel sheet:

Hot laminating steel sheets must adhere to size and shape tolerances specified by the national standard TCVN 10351:2014. This standard applies to:

  • Hot laminating steel sheets strips processed on reverse rolling mills, with nominal thicknesses from 3 to 400 mm and nominal widths of 600 mm or more.
  • Steel grades specified in TCVN 9985-1 (ISO 9328-1) to TCVN 9985-6 (ISO 9328-6), TCVN 9986 (ISO 630), ISO 683-1, ISO 683-2, ISO 683-10, ISO 683-11.
